“NFL: Ranking The Top Ten In Week 6”

As the NFL season rolls on to Week 6 with the Broncos and Chiefs kicking off the slate of games scheduled for this week on Thursday Night, what teams are surging and which ones are still trying to find themselves? San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Miami keep rolling while Dallas and Baltimore stumble. Detroit and Seattle have been exciting surprises as well as the season is just over a quarter of the way finished. These are the Top 10 teams in the National Football League after the first five games.

  1. San Francisco 49ers – The Niners have been the best team in football since week one, when they went into Pittsburgh and made easy work of the Steelers on the road. This week only solidified that as they outplayed Dallas in every phase of the game on Sunday. Brock Purdy is making everything look easy and has made a really nice elevation to being one of the better starting QB’s in the league. He also has a plethora of weapons at his disposal from Christian McCaffrey to Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. As good as the offense is, the defense is perhaps just as good with stars like Fred Warner and Nick Bosa. San Francisco is the team to beat in the NFL in Week 6.
  2. Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles are once again off to their second consecutive 5-0 start. They haven’t played their best football yet but they are finding unique ways to win and with pieces on offense like Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Jason Kelce and company, there is plenty to like about Philly.
  3. Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins have arguably been the second most impressive team to this point behind San Francisco. This squad is all about the offense. They have the most explosive wide receiver room in the league, courtesy of Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, not to mention that Miami can run the ball. Tua and Mike McDaniel can rest assured knowing they can turn around and hand the ball to De’Von Achane.
  4. Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs are still the Chiefs. They still are led by arguably the best coach in the game today in Andy Reid. They also have the best football player in the game today in Patrick Mahomes. While they’re still figuring things out and managing to win games, assets like Travis Kelce will keep them on pace to win another AFC West division crown and be back for another postseason run in the coming months.
  5. Detroit Lions – Detroit: Lovable Losers No More! The Lions had high expectations surrounding them as they entered the 2023 campaign. They have risen to them to this point as they boast a record of 4-1. They’ve won three straight, including a 14 point victory at Lambeau Field and currently sit atop the NFC North. Another thing worth nothing is that the North isn’t a very strong division and depending on how things play out in the coming weeks, Detroit might have an opportunity to open up a large gap in the division standings.
  6. Buffalo Bills – The Buffalo Bills are coming off a defeat at the hands of Jacksonville in London this past Sunday. The offense was somewhat sluggish, despite Josh Allen passing for 360 yards. The bigger concern than losing to the Jags this week for Buffalo is that Matt Milano went down with a knee injury in the first quarter. This comes just a week after the loss of another defensive starter in Tre’Davious White. These injuries might not keep Buffalo from winning games against inferior opponents. However, when it starts getting colder in upstate New York and the games start becoming more important, these losses could prove to be significant.
  7. Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jags, as previously mentioned, are coming off an important win over an impressive opponent. Jacksonville has plenty of talent and with this win, they are back above .500. They took advantage of Buffalo injuries as they put together nearly 500 yards of offense. Travis Etienne rushed for 136 yards and got to the endzone twice to provide a productive alternative to the aerial attack, led by Trevor Lawrence.
  8. Seattle Seahawks – This is another exciting team. They have won three straight after dropping their Week 1 contest against the Rams. Of those three wins, they recorded an impressive road win against Detroit as well as a beat down of the Giants in the Meadowlands. However, they certainly have a good challenge this week as the Bengals, who looked much better against Arizona, will be waiting for them in Cincinnati.
  9. Dallas Cowboys – Dallas had looked awfully impressive before they ran into San Francisco on SNF this week. Dak Prescott was extremely underwhelming and the offense as a whole needs to take a look in the mirror. Additionally, the Cowboys revered defense got completely annihilated by Brock Purdy and the rest of the Niner offense. There was no answers on either side of the ball and despite Dallas still being a good team, this was a step in the wrong direction this week.
  10. Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens suffered a really bad loss on Sunday against their arch rival in Pittsburgh. Seven dropped passes, including two that would have been touchdowns came back to hurt them. While the defense was good all game, they finally broke on a 41 yard touchdown strike with under 2 minutes remaining. The Steelers managed 290 yards of offense and Baltimore still wasn’t able to get the job done. Another thing that was concerning was some questionable coaching decisions from John Harbaugh, such as passing up on guaranteed points off the right foot of Justin Tucker.
